Tribunals Ontario Portal: Login & Account Guide for Landlords
Every mainstream LTB application — L1 through L4 — now files through the Tribunals Ontario Portal. This guide covers getting in: creating the Public Secure account, linking an existing file with your PIN, what can (and can't) be filed online, and the sign-in problems that actually trip people up.
Step 1: Create (or Sign In With) a Public Secure Account
The portal doesn't have its own username and password — it authenticates through Public Secure, Ontario's common login for government services. From the Tribunals Ontario Portal page, choose sign-in and authenticate with a My Ontario login or a sign-in partner. First time: create the account, verify your email, and keep those credentials with your tenancy records — every future filing and hearing notice runs through them.
Step 2: Link an Existing LTB File
If you already have a case that started on paper (or someone filed on your behalf), link it: sign in, choose "Link my Account to a File at LTB", enter the file number, then enter the one-time PIN the LTB issued for the file. Once linked you can see the file status, upload documents, and receive portal notifications for it.
What Files Online (and What Doesn't)
- Landlord applications: L1 (non-payment), L2 (other notices), L3 (tenant gave notice), L4 (broken settlement/order), L9, L10.
- Tenant/co-op applications: T1, T2, T5, T6, C1, C2.
- Cheaper online: the L1/L2 fee is $186 on the portal vs $201 by mail.
- Still offline: some less-common applications and motions file by email or mail — the LTB's forms pages state the channel per form.
Whitelist the new notification address
Since July 24, 2026, every portal notification comes from ltbdonotreply@tribunalsontario.ca — not the old ltbdonotreply@ontario.ca. If your spam filter or contacts list still expects the old address, a hearing notice or an order can land in junk mail. Add the new address to your safe senders today; a missed hearing notice is not a defence.
Sign-In Troubleshooting
- Old e-file credentials. Logins from the LTB's pre-portal e-file system don't work — the portal uses Public Secure only.
- Unverified email. An account whose email was never confirmed can authenticate but stumbles on notifications — finish the verification step.
- Cached sessions. If the sign-in loops, try a private/incognito window before anything else.
- Wrong PIN on file linking. The PIN is per-file and single-use; if it's spent or lost, contact the LTB for a new one rather than guessing.
